Nurturing a Wise Leader: Ahmed’s Story

The conflict dissolved instantly. His father, deeply impressed, recalls,
“I sat there in silence. I had never seen him do something like that. He didn’t panic, he didn’t
shout, and he didn’t run to call us. He thought, and then he solved the problem. At that
moment, I saw a leader growing in my son. Not later right there in front of me.”
Ahmed’s transformation extended beyond conflict resolution. Through the digital literacy
component of ALiVE, he learned how to use online tools safely and productively. He discovered
educational platforms that support learning rather than distract from it.
“Before ALiVE, the phone felt like a toy,” he says. “I would just watch random things without
learning anything. But now I know how to search for information, how to use tools like ChatGPT
to ask questions, and how to explore things that help me in school. It feels good to use
technology in a way that makes me smarter.”
Today, Ahmed speaks more confidently in class, volunteers during group tasks, and supports
peers who struggle to express themselves. His teachers describe him as a “quiet but growing
leader”—a learner who now believes in the value of his ideas and communicates them clearly.
He dreams of becoming a community leader, someone who guides others with understanding
and fairness.
Reflecting on his future, Ahmed says, “I want to lead people with wisdom and kindness. I want
to help solve problems in my community the same way I help at home now. Life Skills made me
see that leadership doesn’t start when you are grown, it starts with how you treat people every
day. My dream is to become a political leader, Alive program has natured me well to make it
happen”
His parents share deep gratitude for the transformation they have witnessed.
“We are so proud of him,” his father says. “This program has given him confidence, but also
discipline, empathy, and responsibility. We see a boy who is no longer afraid of his own
potential. As parents, nothing is more comforting than seeing your child grow into someone
who can think, decide, and act with purpose. We believe he has a bright future.”
